Do you dig up dandelions with a vengence?? Do you spray them? curse them? wish them away?
Did you know that those nasty little weeds are one of the best things that you can feed to your birds-and yourself? They are full of vitamin C and are a blood purifier and a liver tonic.
Make sure you harvest ones that are not sprayed with pesticed, insecticides or dogs. Also ones that are on the edge of busy roads are not a great idea either...car exhaust isn't good.
The leaf and the flower are great cut up in your bird's fresh food. Avoid the stem.
At this time of year -between October and May-I actually buy dandelion greens in the produce section ,along with other fresh herbs-parsley,cilantro,dill,basil etc. They're great for birds and people!
